Headaches & Migraines Treatment in Florham Park, NJ

Headaches are among the most common disorders of the nervous system, with almost half the adult population having at least one headache within the last year. In addition to headaches, migraines are an extraordinarily common disorder that affects nearly 38 million men, women, and children in the United States.  Although pain may be the biggest symptom, several people also experience blurred vision, nausea, and an inability to focus or complete tasks.

Stress, Anxiety, or Tension Headaches

Also called chronic non-progressive headaches, they are the most common, which vary with intensity and duration. Pain is typically felt on the top of the head to the back of the neck. Often these headaches trigger muscle tightness that pull excessively on the scalp thus restricting blood flow and increasing pain. It’s important to note that some of these may be triggered by hormonal, energy, or dietary imbalances.

Cervicogenic Headaches

Although they feel like headaches, they are caused by issues elsewhere, such as tight muscles in the neck or upper back. These can often come from poor posture combined with prolonged activities such as reading, writing, or computer/phone use.

Migraine

Migraines can be severe and can last for hours or even a few days. They typically occur on the same side of the head and are preceded by an aura. Migraine symptoms often include sensitivity to sound or light and nausea or vomiting.
