Show Your Body Some Love With Acupuncture Therapies

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe and effective form of holistic medicine that is commonly used to manage acute and chronic pain. It has been a key component in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years and is widely practiced today in the United States. The alternative treatment is a minimally-invasive therapy that involves the placement of thin needles that stimulate specific pressure points in order to release endorphins-natural painkillers. Acupuncture points are usually where nerves, muscles, and connective tissue will be stimulated.

The Benefits of Acupuncture

Hundreds of studies show that acupuncture improves the body’s functions, promotes the natural healing process, and relieves lifelong ailments. Additionally, the technique successfully treats conditions ranging from back and neck pain, nausea, knee pain, carpal tunnel, migraines, sciatica, and depression.  Many of our patients have had impressive results after receiving acupuncture.

What to Expect

During an acupuncture visit, our doctors will perform and exam and assessment of your current health situation. The treatment involves:

  • Needle insertion

Acupuncture needles are very thin, sterile, and single used; therefore insertion typically causes little to no pain and no cross contamination. During treatment, we use anywhere between five and 20 needles. It’s common to feel a slight aching sensation when a needle attains appropriate depth.

  • Needle manipulation

During a typical acupuncture session, your acupuncturist may slightly rotate or twist the needles.

  • Needle removal

After 10 to 30 minutes, the needles are removed with little discomfort.
