Sometimes, the source of chronic pain, numbness, and/or tingling is ambiguous and undefined—which can certainly add to the sufferer’s stress and discomfort. At Total Health, our team is trained to work with you to determine the cause of your unique symptoms by addressing your concerns and administering two tests: The Nerve Conduction Velocity Test and The Electromyogram Test.

The nerve conduction velocity test is designed to find nerve damage through electrodes that detect the velocity at which electrical pulses travel through a client’s nerves. This test can reveal conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic inflammatory neuropathy, back and neck pain, degenerative disc disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome, peripheral nerve injuries, and sciatic nerve problems.
During the electromyogram test, a client is asked to contract and release various muscles, into which tiny needles have been inserted by a doctor. The test reads the responses of these muscles during those actions to detect signs of neuromuscular abnormality.
Once our team examines the tests’ results and confirms the origins of a client’s pain (nerve or muscle), we set out to create a personalized course of treatment. If you are experiencing frequent or unexplained pain, tingling, or numbness, please contact a member of the Total Health team for more information and to schedule an appointment.
